Nerea the Fiddler
With over a decade of teaching experience, Nerea has taught music to over 4,000 students in private and group lessons as well as in ensembles, schools, workshops, fiddle camps and on-line. Raised on Cape Breton Island, Nerea grew up playing the fiddle and spent her teens in Brittany France where she learned their traditional music and dances. She spent numerous years performing as a fiddler & stepdancer in the Middle East. Nerea's innovative approach to teaching is unique and effective. She relates the folk dances to the music, the history, the stories and the origin of the style to the notes and ornamentation of the pieces. She has taught ages 3 - 83 and has extensive experience with special needs (autism, down syndrome, williamsburg diseases, etc.). Nerea truly believes music is for everyone.
