I am excited to share what I know about a variety of musical subjects.
Piano: We can look at traditional accompaniment styles from Cape Breton, Scotland and New England or we can explore more contemporary approaches influenced by funk, jazz and latin piano. We can also look directly into jazz and latin piano styles and techniques.
Mandolin: We can explore a variety of rhythmic approaches what makes the instrument a groove machine as well as clarifying pick technique and learning a variety of American and Celtic tunes.
Any Instrument: I'm happy to talk about the music theory of traditional tunes, how to hear the chords and accompany by ear. I'm also excited to discuss creating new arrangements of traditional and contemporary tunes.
Dance: I learned a particular style of Cape Breton step dance from my mother and would be happy to share some of those steps with interested dancers.
