Hello Fiddlers! My name is Mariel and I teach the fiddle and hardanger fiddle to all ages and levels. Growing up attending Alasdair Fraser’s Valley of the Moon Scottish Fiddle School exposed me to so many wonderful fiddle and teaching styles. Encouraged by that community, I studied fiddle at Berklee College of Music and the hardanger fiddle at Høgskolen i Telemark in Rauland, Norway.

My main goal for our lessons is to make sure that you’re having fun! During our first lesson, I like to hear about your musical background and goals so that I can cater our lessons to your individual wants and needs. Like many fiddle teachers, I primarily teach by ear. I teach tunes and techniques (both basic instrumental techniques and stylistic techniques) and can delve into basic chords and music theory in ways that will enhance your musical experience.

I teach half hour or hour lessons.
