Have you already played some beautiful polskas shared in jams and want to learn more about the mysterious melodies & captivating rhythms of Scandinavian styles? Or do you want to grasp the basics of Scandinavian folk music but don't know where to start? For beginners and experienced alike, our lessons can get you deeper into the Nordic sounds.
We will craft our lessons together and can focus on what suits your curiosities and drive best. Absolute beginners to the fiddle are also welcome.
I have played for dances with the Mid- Atlantic Norwegian Dancers, Scandia DC and Scandia NY and have taught a wide variety of private students. My specialty is playing lively music for dancing but I love playing concert-style folk music as well. I also have a degree in Ethnomusicology and love to discuss the technical aspects of music in context of how they are used culturally!
Along with my knowledge & experience in Scandinavian fiddling, we can explore American old-time fiddling, and Irish tunes ( I first learned how to play the fiddle in Ireland! )
