Learn to play old time fiddle from a true West Virginia fiddler!

Dakota Karper grew up steeped in the music of the Appalachian mountains and loves to share it with students. Dakota developed her musical style under master fiddlers such as Joe Herrmann, Rachel Eddy and Ben Townsend, participated in Augusta Heritage Center (Elkins, WV) and learned in the most organic way from person to person at musical gatherings. She has also studied classical violin at the Shenandoah Arts Academy (Winchester, VA). Bringing the best of both worlds together Dakota shares the techniques, posture and theory gained through classical violin, and blends that together with the tunes, songs and shuffles of oldtime music. Classes are taught by ear in accordance with the oral tradition of person to person learning. In 2019 Dakota Karper opened her own roots music school in West Virginia called 'The Cat and The Fiddle'.

Katherine Forbes is the founder of Nashville based website and brand design company, Designing the Row. Her client roster has grown to include GRAMMY Nominated & Award Winning Artists, New York Times Best Selling Authors, Film Composers, Reality TV Personalities, & many more! She is known for her clean and simple design style and is recognized as a Squarespace Expert and Squarespace Authorized Trainer. She is also the creator of music community, Music Biz Besties, and teaches digital music marketing as an adjunct professor at ETSU.
