Having grown up in Orkney in Scotland, I am most at home teaching Scottish fiddle styles, and also enjoy teaching some of my favourite tunes from other fiddle styles. I love playing tunes from Quebec, Scandinavia, Cape Breton, Ireland and I most recently spent four years at Berklee College of Music concentrating on American roots styles, studying with the likes of Bruce Molsky, Darol Anger and Joe Walsh, and falling in love with Appalachian old time music.
Over the years I have taught both classes and private lessons, in all abilities, at the Orkney Traditional Music Project, North Ayrshire Fiddle Workshops, Feis Fhoirt, Feis Rois, the Wrigley Sisters’ Centre of Music, Ossipee Valley Festival Roots & Sprouts kids camp, Great Lakes Music Camp and Pure Dead Brilliant fiddle camp.
