Best known for harp - and for approaching the harp with a fiddler's musical sensibilities - I'm passionate about sharing roots music from the Celtic, Nordic, and North American spheres. I teach mainly by ear as part of a dynamic and evolving aural tradition. I work with all ages and skill levels on two instruments besides harp: piano (focusing on accompaniment for fiddle, song, and dance music, with a deep Cape Breton influence), and clawhammer banjo. For the interested student, I love to delve not only into theory but to connect the music we're learning to a wide range of interests, including linguistics, folklore, geography, and history. I'm a believer in both breadth and depth to become a well rounded musician. I'm a patient and empathetic teacher and believe in music as one of the great pursuits to make life worth it.

Katherine Forbes is the founder of Nashville based website and brand design company, Designing the Row. Her client roster has grown to include GRAMMY Nominated & Award Winning Artists, New York Times Best Selling Authors, Film Composers, Reality TV Personalities, & many more! She is known for her clean and simple design style and is recognized as a Squarespace Expert and Squarespace Authorized Trainer. She is also the creator of music community, Music Biz Besties, and teaches digital music marketing as an adjunct professor at ETSU.

Her work has been featured on Forbes.com and she’s spoken on panels hosted by YELP, the Music Business Association, Women in Music, and many others.
