Equal Sound Corona Relief Fund
In response to the coronavirus pandemic and its devastating effect on our artistic community, the Los Angeles based non-profit Equal Sound launched the Corona Relief Fund (CRF). Through the fund, musicians can apply for an initial grant up to $500 due to the impact of COVID-19. Guidelines to apply and ways to donate are listed at equalsound.org/corona.
Who can apply to the CRF?
Any musician who can be legally paid in the US who has had work cancelled by the COVID-19 pandemic. If you are an artist in need of assistance other than for a cancelled performance, please visit their resource page found here.
Can I apply as an international artist?
Right now they are only paying out US-based musicians, but if you are a musician from another country in need, please apply anyway so they can put you on the wait list.
What do I need to apply?
Be a musician who lost confirmed performances due to coronavirus closures that will go unpaid by the presenter.
Upload evidence that you had this gig confirmed and then canceled IN A SINGLE PDF via the online submission form.
Provide your address and contact details (also via the online submission form).
Can I apply more than once?
Yes, multiple applications are possible to reflect the number of gigs cancelled. However, they ask that you please wait until you’ve received a payment to apply for another cancelled gig. Artists who submit multiple applications in a single request will only have their first event considered.
When will I hear back?
They are processing thousands of requests and working to streamline the payment process, which has already begun. Please make sure you are on their mailing list to receive general updates from Equal Sound. If you have specific questions, please reach out to corona@equalsound.org.
